Minnesota - National Wildlife Refuge, Bloomington Education And Visitor Center

A beautiful day for a walk! It was a little tough, because it is also the day after the SEH Annual meeting, so the great intentions of the night before seemed a little tough to follow through on at 7 in the morning, but nonetheless, Mark Broses, Tracy Ekola, Allyz Kramer and I took off for a brisk (ok, for me it was a slow jog) walk at this beautiful Refuge.

The Refuge is huge, and our walk snaked between Long Meadow Lake and a few small ponds that are on the western bluff of the lake. We saw a deer, otters, several species of ducks, geese, swans and a crane. It was peaceful and beautiful. Definitely worth the early morning wake up call.

I learned something new from Allyz, while we were talking about the edibility of some huge mushrooms that were growing on a tree.... she says "Have fungi, but be careful!"
